The
first members' traveling
exhibition comprised
50 framed prints,
selected by five
Fellows of the Society
at the first meet,
from a submission
of 450 entries.
Interestingly, they
were all (but one)
monochrome fine
quality prints,
of a variety of
topics - but majoring
on landscape; the
colour print was
via the Cibachrome
process (now Ilfochrome
Classic) from a
colour transparency.
Mounting
and framing the
exhibition was done
voluntarily by Brian
Allen and Ken Nelson,
who spent a full
week ensuring this
would be a really
well presented show.
At
first, it proved
difficult to find
venues willing to
show the work but
sterling work by
a couple of members
produced the first
venues. Suffice
to say that the
initial reaction
to the work produced
such comments as
"The best exhibition
ever seen at this
venue" and "What
superb quality".
Because of this
successful reception,
we obtained other
venues on recommendation.
At
every venue, the
exhibition has been
enthusiastically
received, with requests
to host the next
and the next too!
The
Second Exhibition
has followed. Member
Bruce Carter cut
all the mounts and
Dr Peter Watt and
Alan Ellison (over
at Easter 2000 for
the Meet from Northern
Ireland) helped
with the framing.
The exhibition comprises
a mixture of conventionally
and digitally produced
work. There is a
LINK in the left
column so you can
view the selected
entries.
In
the future, because
of difficulties
in staging exhibitions
and finding suitable
venues, the Society
has opted to produce
a book of images,
selected from submissions
by members. The
first selection
of images took place
at the 2003 Meet
at Harlech, a sample
of the layout shown
at the 2004 Meet,
also at Harlech.
Images
selected for the
book (a limited
edition) "Drawn
By Light"
(title suggested
by Dave S Allen,
Hon.FZPS) can be
viewed on the Society's
online Gallery
